Did you ever sit down and just think what the world would be like for you if you did not know how to read? Many of us are so fortunate to have been taught how to read that we don't even realize how much reading we do a day. Perhaps we may be reading a novel, or maybe it is just street signs and a restaurant menu. Just imagine if you were not able to, what would your world be like? Now ask yourself, would you want that for your child?

Try and teach your child from very early on the gift of reading. You can do this by taking a little bit of time each day to set aside some special time to read with your child. No matter how young or old they are they are, it is good to get them into the habit of reading.
Reading stimulates the mind and encourages your child to use their imagination. It also helps your child develop listening skills. As you read to your child, show them the pictures and point to the words. Your child will learn to associate the pictures with the words.
